Lethal Salmon Virus Found in Every Region with Installed Salmon Farms


    Dr. Rick Rutledge, professor and fisheries statistician at Simon Fraser University worried about river inlet sockeye, which were also dwindling in numbers just like Fraser River sockeye. He discovered that the river inlet sockeye were infected with Infectious Salmon Anemia Virus (ISA), also known as salmon influenza. This highly lethal and much-feared virus has proliferated in every region across the globe where Atlantic salmon farms have been installed.

    First detected in Norway in 1984, infection spread to other countries via egg imports. In Chile, ISA wiped out 70 percent of the country’s salmon industry, at a cost of $2 billion. But Chile has no native salmon to decimate. British Columbia does... And contrary to Chile, the wild salmon of BC are absolutely critical to the ecosystem and residents of the area. The locals don’t just make money off these fish; it’s a main staple of their diet.

    According to Morton, at least 11 species of fish in the Fraser River have been found to be infected with European-strain ISA, yet the Canadian food inspection agency has aggressively refuted the findings, and even attacked the credibility of two of the most preeminent experts on ISA testing, who testified that positive results were found to the Cohen Commission.

    In fact, everyone who has spoken up about these salmon viruses, which can be traced back to salmon farms, has been shut down in some way or another. And by muzzling scientists like Dr. Miller, the Canadian government has effectively put the entire BC ecosystem at grave risk, just to protect commercial fish farming and international trade. In so doing, they’re also allowing potentially contaminated farm-raised salmon to be sold, exported, and consumed.

You May Be Buying Salmon Infected with Dangerous Fish Viruses


    Morton tested farmed salmon purchased in various stores and sushi restaurants around British Columbia, and samples tested positive for at least three different salmon viruses, including:

        Infectious Salmon Anemia Virus (ISA)
        Salmon alphaviruses
        Piscine reovirus, which gives salmon a heart attack and prevents them from swimming upriver

    The problem with this, aside from the unknown effects on human health from eating salmon with lethal fish viruses, is that viruses are preserved by cold, and fish are always kept frozen for freshness. Then, when you wash the fish, the viruses get flushed down the drain and depending on your sewer system, could be introduced into local watersheds. The environmental impact of this viral contamination is hitherto unknown, but it’s unlikely to be completely harmless.

    “This is why it must become public,” Morton says. She insists that consumers, stores and trading partners must become aware of this problem, and be the ones to insist on proper testing and remedial action. It’s not just about protecting certain species of fish, it’s about the health of the ecosystem as a whole; it’s about human health and food safety as well.

    How can you tell whether a salmon is wild or farm raised? As explained by Morton, the flesh of wild sockeye salmon is bright red, courtesy of its natural astaxanthin content. It’s also very lean, so the fat marks, those white stripes you see in the meat, are very thin. If the fish is pale pink with wide fat marks, the salmon is farmed.

Farmed Fish Pose a Number of Health Hazards to Your Health


    Farm raised fish of all species can spell disaster for your health in a number of ways. It's important to understand that ALL farm-raised fish – not just salmon -- are fed a concoction of vitamins, antibiotics, and depending on the fish, synthetic pigments, to make up for the lack of natural flesh coloration due to the altered diet. Without it, the flesh of caged salmon, for example, would be an unappetizing, pale gray. The fish are also fed pesticides, along with compounds such as toxic copper sulfate, which is frequently used to keep nets free of algae.

    Not only do you ingest these drugs and chemicals when you eat the fish, but these toxins also build up in sea-floor sediments. In this way, industrial fish farming raises many of the same environmental concerns about chemicals and pollutants that are associated with feedlot cattle and factory chicken farms. In addition, fish waste and uneaten feed further litter the sea floor beneath these farms, generating bacteria that consume oxygen vital to shellfish and other bottom-dwelling sea creatures.

    Studies have also consistently found levels of PCBs, dioxins, toxaphene and dieldrin, as well as mercury, to be higher in farm-raised fish than wild fish. This fact alone would be cause to reconsider consuming farmed fish!

    Wild caught fish have already reached such toxic levels, it's risky to recommend eating them with a clear conscience. For example, according to a US Geological Survey study, mercury contamination was detected in EVERY fish sampled in nearly 300 streams across the United States. More than a quarter of these fish contained mercury at levels exceeding the EPA criterion for the protection of human health. So, when you consider the fact that factory farmed fish typically are even MORE toxic than wild-caught fish and also contain an assortment of antibiotics and pesticides, avoiding them becomes a no-brainer – at least if you're concerned about your health.

Buying Local Increases Food Safety and Food Security


    Morton recommends buying local foods and wild fish. I couldn’t agree more. As mentioned in the film, disease in farm animals is one of the biggest sources of epidemics in humans. Therefore, the health of food animals cannot be treated as some sort of idealistic notion relegated to tree-huggers and animal-welfare crusaders.

    Fish farms are the aquatic version of a confined animal feeding operation (CAFO), and just like their land-based cattle- and chicken farms, aquatic CAFO’s are a breeding ground for disease and toxic waste, and produce food animals of inferior quality. Due to the dramatically increased disease risk—a natural side effect of crowding—these animals are further contaminated with drugs, and in the case of salmon, synthetic astaxanthin, which is made from petrochemicals that are not approved for human consumption.

    Wild salmon are dying from diseases cultivated and spread by salmon farms. Where is the sense in this? And instead of selling wholesome, nutritionally-superior wild salmon, Canada is selling inferior and potentially diseased salmon raised in fish farms. Who benefits, and who loses?

    The industry will tell you the world needs inexpensive food, and inevitably, they insist that such foods can only be created using the latest technology and artificial means. The latest example of this craziness is the creation of what amounts to a vegetarian fish diet designed for carnivorous fish.2 Instead of fishmeal, the protein in this feed comes from bacteria, yeast or algae instead. This way, fish farms will not need to use valuable wild fish to feed farmed fish, and this, they claim, will help alleviate world hunger... Never mind the fact that by altering a fish’s diet in such a drastic way, you’re undoubtedly altering its nutritional content as well.

    So at what cost should we clamor for cheap foods? At the expense of our environment and, potentially, the very lives of our descendants? We cannot be so blindly arrogant as to think that we can survive as a species if we allow the ecosystem to fall apart.

    The ramifications of our large-scale, mass-producing, chemical-dependent food system are incredibly vast, which is why I urge you to become more curious about your food. Where, and how was it raised, grown, or manufactured? These things do matter; for your health, and the health and future of our planet.

    Like Morton, I am also very concerned about our vanishing freedoms and increasing “corpotocracy,” where citizens are ruled by multi-national corporations with just one goal in mind: Maximizing Profit. A glaring example of this loss of freedom was Bill 37—the inappropriately named “Animal Health Act” which, had Canada made it into law, would have made it a crime to report farm animal disease to the public. Under this bill, informants would face a $75,000 fine and two years in prison simply for naming the location of a disease outbreak. Fortunately, the Act was dropped, but could potentially be revived sometime in the future...

    Many environmental experts have warned about the sustainability of 

fish farms. 

 

for a decade now, and we have documented those objections in many
previous articles. Unfortunately nothing has yet been done to improve the
system.

    As usual, government agencies and environmental organizations around the
world turned a blind eye to what was predicted to become an absolute
disaster, and now the ramifications can be seen across the globe, including
in British Columbia, Canada.

    Salmon Confidential is a fascinating documentary that draws back the
curtain to reveal how the Canadian government is covering up the cause behind
British Columbia’s rapidly dwindling wild salmon population. A summary of the
film reads:

        “When biologist Alexandra Morton discovers BC’s wild salmon are
testing positive for dangerous European salmon viruses associated with salmon
farming worldwide, a chain of events is set off by government to suppress the
findings.

        Tracking viruses, Morton moves from courtrooms, into British
Columbia’s most remote rivers, Vancouver grocery stores and sushi
restaurants.

        The film documents Morton’s journey as she attempts to overcome
government and industry roadblocks thrown in her path and works to bring
critical information to the public in time to save BC’s wild salmon.”

    If you think watching a documentary about wild fish sounds boring, this
film may well change your mind. It provides sobering insight into the inner
workings of government agencies, and includes rare footage of the bureaucrats
tasked with food and environmental safety.

    It reveals how the very agency tasked with protecting wild salmon is
actually working to protect the commercial aquaculture industry, to
devastating effect.

    Once you understand just how important wild salmon are to the entire
ecosystem, you realize that what’s going on here goes far beyond just
protecting a fish species. Without these salmon, the entire ecosystem will
eventually fail, and in case you’ve temporarily forgotten, you are part of
this system, whether you’re a Canadian or not...

'Keystone' Species Missing in Action by the Millions


    As explained in the film, a “keystone” species is a species of animal
that is essential to the functioning of the ecosystem. It’s a species that
other animals cannot survive without. In British Columbia (BC), pacific
salmon are a keystone species. They fill hundreds of streams and rivers,
feeding hundreds of species, including humans. Alas, since the early 1990’s,
salmon numbers have rapidly dwindled, coinciding with the introduction of
aqua farms raising farmed salmon.

    Each year, millions of wild salmon go missing, and many are found to have
died before spawning. They can be found littering the shores of rivers and
streams in BC in large numbers.

    Biologist Alex Morton has followed and studied the unusual decline in
salmon stocks for nearly 30 years. She noticed that as commercial fish farms
moved into the area, they had a detrimental impact on wild fish. The most
obvious was a dramatic rise in parasitic sea lice in juvenile salmon, which
naturally do not carry the lice. But that was just the beginning.

    Fish farms breed pathogens that can spread like wildfire and contaminate
any wild fish swimming past. Norway has recognized this problem, and does not
permit fish farms to be located in rivers or streams populated by valuable
native species. In British Columbia, no such restrictions exist.

    On the contrary, not only has the Department of Fisheries and Oceans
Canada (DFO) never taken the spread of disease into account when approving
salmon farms in sensitive areas such as the Fraser River, the agency is
actually covering up the fact that fish farms are the cause of dwindling
salmon stocks.

Wild Salmon Declines Traced Back to Salmon Farms


    The film discusses the fate of Dr. Kristy Miller, head of molecular
genetics at DFO, who, using DNA profiling, discovered that the fish that die
before spawning have a number of DNA switched on that healthy fish do not. In
a nutshell, the wild salmon are dying from leukemia, retroviruses, brain
tumors, and immune system decay...

    Salmon leukemia virus raged through fish farms in the area in the early
1990’s when the farms were first introduced. A retrovirus, salmon leukemia
virus attacks the salmon’s immune system, so it dies of something else, much
like the process of AIDS. At the time, it was discovered that virtually all
the BC Chinook salmon farms were infected. They also discovered that the
virus killed 100 percent of the wild sockeye salmon exposed to it. Yet
nothing was done...

    Instead, as soon as Dr. Miller traced the problem to fish farms, 


she became ostracized, and effectively put under gag order. When her findings
were published in the distinguished journal Science in 2011, the DFO did not
allow her to speak to the press, despite the fact that her findings were
hailed as some of the most significant salmon research of the decade.

    Two years earlier, in 2009, the Fraser River experienced the worst salmon
run in recorded history. Some 10 million fish went missing, leaving
traditional people living along the river without catch. In response to the
public outcry, the Canadian government created the Commission of Inquiry Into
the Decline of Salmon in the Fraser River, also known as the Cohen

Commission. The inquiry cost $26 million dollars and spanned across 150 days
of hearings. Theories presented for the mysterious disappearance of the
salmon included overfishing, sharks, water temperature, pollution, even
predatory giant squid!

    It wasn’t until the very end that attention was finally turned to the
most logical source...Salmon Farms.

    Dr. Ian Fleming testified about Norway’s discovery that fish farms are a
source of pathogenic disease that can decimate native fish, and therefore
does not permit salmon farms in certain areas frequented by wild salmon.

British Columbia, in contrast, has approved at least 10 farms in one of the
narrowest channels that wild sockeye salmon migrate through, and disease risk
was not considered when approving any of them.

What are Your Breasts Telling You?


    Dr. Northrup is a firm believer in the innate wisdom of the body, and you
can apply a certain measure of symbolism to various body parts. Your breasts,
for example, were designed to feed and nurture your children, as well as for
pleasure. According to Dr. Northrup, women who tend to be most at risk for
breast cancer are those who have difficulty nurturing themselves and
receiving pleasure...

        “The first thing you need to understand is you have to learn how to
receive – how to receive rest, how to receive pleasure – and that’s going to
be the primary intervention that I would do. This is the biggest stumbling
block for women: we’re so afraid of appearing selfish.

        Here’s what we do to get the nutrients of pleasure and receiving that
we all need for optimal brain health – the beta-endorphin or the feel-good
chemicals in the brain: We import it through alcohol and sugar, when we can
import it directly through self-love, meditation, exercise, and good sex,
which you can do with yourself,” she says.

    Bernie Siegel, a pediatric surgeon from Yale, was co-president of the
American Holistic Medical Association with Dr. Northrup in the early ‘90s.

        “Bernie used to say, 'I have come to see that the fundamental problem
most patients face is the inability to love themselves,'” she says. “I
remember thinking, 'God, Bernie, that seems pretty simple to me.' And you
know what? He’s right. The older you get, the more you realize this.”

    So how do you love yourself when you feel unlovable? Dr. Northrup
suggests a paradoxical strategy she picked up from Gay Hendricks, who is a
pioneer in relationship transformation and body-mind therapies. Simply
meditate on, or use the mantra:

        “I don’t feel lovable, so I’m going to love myself for that.”


    Another powerful strategy that we use in my practice is a form of energy
psychology known as the Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), which also uses
the affirmation to love and accept yourself unconditionally. This really is a
powerful healing affirmation that can have a profound influence. I’ve worked
with tens of thousands of patients, and it can seem like nothing short of
magic when unconditional love and self acceptance is integrated into a
person’s neurology. In many cases, it can resolve physical symptoms quite
rapidly.

    According to Dr. Northrup, part of this healing is due to the increase in
nitric oxide, which is found at high levels in your nasal pharynx. This is
one of the reasons why you should breathe through your nose (opposed to
mouth-breathing).

        “Think about what happens when you do that. You get an increase in
nitric oxide in every blood vessel in the body. And remember: a capillary is
a micron away from every cell in the body. Nitric oxide is produced by the
endothelial lining of every blood vessel in the body. It’s increased in all
situations of health: self-love, aerobic exercise, antioxidant, vitamins,
eating your vegetables. Nitric oxide is the molecule of life force. It also
balances all the neurotransmitters instantaneously – serotonin, dopamine,
beta endorphin, and all those things for which one in 10 Americans is on an
antidepressant.”

Dr. Northrup’s Top 10 Health Tips for Women


    In this interview, Dr. Northrup shares her top 10 tips for women’s
health:

        Get enough sleep: Proper sleep is essential for optimal health,
and it helps metabolize stress hormones better than any other known entity.

        Meditate for at least 3-12 minutes each day, to calm and soothe your
mind.

        Begin your day with a positive affirmation.

        Exercise regularly. Ideally, aim for a comprehensive program that
includes high intensity exercises and strength training along with core-
building exercises and stretching.

        Breathe properly. When you breathe in and out fully through your
nose, you activate your parasympathetic rest-and-restore nervous system,
which expands the lower lobes of your lungs, and therefore engages the vagus
nerves.

            “Relax the back of your throat. So many women have thyroid
problems – it’s from chronic tension here; because you’re pretty sure your
feminine voice isn’t going to be heard. It hasn’t been heard for 5,000 years.

You’re not alone. But it’s being heard now,” she says.

        Practice self love and unconditional acceptance. Dr. Northrup
suggests looking at yourself in the mirror at least once a day, and saying:
‘I love you. I really love you.’

            “After 21 days, something will happen to you. You’ll see a part
of you that looks back at you, and you begin to believe it. “I love you. I
really love you.”

        Optimize your vitamin D levels. Get your vitamin D level checked.

Ideally, you’ll want your levels within the therapeutic range of 50-70 ng/ml.
According to Dr. Northrup:

            “Sunlight is not the enemy. It’s lack of antioxidants in your
diet that is the enemy. Natural light is a lovely source of vitamin D; you
can’t overdose. But many people – to get their levels of vitamin D into
optimal – are going to need 5,000 to 10, 000 international units per day. So,
vitamin D is important. You can get your level drawn through MyMedLab.com
without a doctor’s prescription.”

        Just remember that if you take high doses of oral vitamin D, you also
need to boost your intake of vitamin K2. For more information on this, please

        Cultivate an active social life; enjoy some face-to-face time with
like minded people.

        Epsom salt baths (20 minutes, three times per week) are a simple,
inexpensive way to get magnesium into your body.

        Keep a gratitude journal. Each night, before you go to bed, write
down five things that you are grateful for, or five things that brought you
pleasure.

            “Remember: every emotion is associated with a biochemical reality
in your body. So, you want to bring in the emotions of generosity, pleasure,
receiving, and open-heartedness. The same things that create heart health
create breast health.”

How to Perform Breast Self-Examinations


    Naturally, I couldn’t discuss women’s breast health with Dr. Northrup
without getting her take on breast self-examinations. Surprisingly, research
has shown that self-examinations may be overrated, much like mammograms, in
terms of saving women’s lives.

        “There was a huge study done in China that showed that teaching women
how to examine their breasts did not decrease their mortality at all,” she
says. “In fact, all it did was increase the number of biopsies for benign
disease. So, there’s no data that breast self-exam helps with anything.”

    That said, she still encourages and recommends a monthly or weekly
“self-love breast massage,” but not to specifically look for anything, or
with the expectation of finding something wrong. Instead, she suggests just
gently and lovingly massaging your breasts and up under your armpit, where
the lymph nodes are located, while taking your Epsom salt bath. The best time
to do it is just after your period, when you have the least amount of
hormonal stimulation.

        “Massage this with love. You’re not looking for anything,” she says.
“The average woman will find something. We know that breast self-exam, or
just a woman finding something because she knows her breasts, is just as good
as all of these other screenings for finding the fast-growing tumors. See,
the problem with screening is it finds the slow-growing ones that may regress
or wouldn’t go anywhere anyway.

        So, for a part of your health, you want to start a practice of
bringing your breast home to your chest. Get to know them in health lovingly.

Don’t use your fingertips, by the way. Use your palm. Otherwise, you’re going
to feel every little gland and freak out. And then if you do find that you
have what’s called a fibrocystic disease where your breasts get tender, start
eating some kelp tablets, because the iodine really helps that in a huge
way.”

Taking Control of Your Health is the Best Prevention


    The advice offered in this article is that of Dr. Northrup. There are
many additional strategies to help prevent cancer, and breast cancer in
particular. For a list of my top tips, please see this previous article.

    One of the most important lifestyle changes you can make is to adopt a
low-glycemic diet and avoid sugar in all its forms, especially fructose.

Excess sugar increases insulin which, along with high blood sugar, changes
the way estrogen is metabolized in your body. Elevated estrogen levels is a
risk factor for breast cancer, so you’ll want to avoid estrogen dominance. If
you are experiencing excessive menopausal symptoms, you may want to consider
bioidentical hormone replacement therapy instead, which uses hormones that
are molecularly identical to the ones your body produces and do not wreak
havoc on your system. This is a much safer alternative.

    I agree with Dr. Northrup that health is ultimately about living well
while you’re alive, and placing too much effort on detecting cancer can turn
you into a patient when you’re not actually ill... Cancer screening is not
prevention, and while early detection of cancer is desirable, the
conventional recommendation to get regular mammograms has shown to be more
harmful than helpful. Remember, 10 times as many women are harmed in some way
compared to those whose lives are spared by annual mammograms.

    So educate yourself about your options, and embrace your body, your life,
and your health; focusing on living healthy, opposed to searching for that
elusive “something” that might one day kill you.

    Breast cancer is the leading cause of death among American women 


between the age of 40-55, and the high prevalence has spawned a very lucrative
industry; from mammography and other dangerous or invasive testing methods,
to “preventive” double mastectomies and cancer drugs.

    Much effort is placed on trying to detect cancer at an earlier stage.


Unfortunately, the conventional recommendation to get regular mammograms has
shown to be more harmful than helpful, as research shows 10 times as many
women are harmed in some way compared to those whose lives are spared by
annual mammograms.

    Is there a better way to prevent becoming a statistic?


    Yes, there is, says Dr. Christiane Northrup, a practicing physician and
ob-gyn specialist who has dedicated a good portion of her life to helping
women take control of their health.

    Dr. Northrup is also a New York Times best-seller author, and is a
prominent speaker on natural health issues, especially those related to
women, for whom breast health is a major issue.

    Having grown up in a health-conscious family where her father was a
holistic dentist and her paternal aunt and uncle were conventional medical
doctors, she got a chance to see the difference between the two philosophies
first-hand.

    Her father instilled in her the idea that “It’s not about living forever;
it’s about living well while you’re here,” and in order to do that, your
focus needs to be on living a healthy lifestyle, opposed to searching for and
spending your life trying to treat diseases as they crop up.

Dr. Northrup on Disease Screening as Health Care


    Conventional medicine, with its focus on diagnosis and treatment of
disease, has the side effect of turning everything into a “condition” that
needs treatment. According to Dr. Northrup:

        “[I]n my ob-gyn residency, I saw a couple of things. One, a woman’s
body was treated as a disease waiting to happen. Pregnancy was a disease. A
normal labor and birth was considered a retrospective diagnosis... Breasts
are treated as two pre-malignant lesions sitting on your chest. The whole
discussion of women’s health is, 'What can go wrong?'

        ...[W]e think that women’s health is disease screening. We think that
women’s health is pap smears [and] mammograms... [But] that’s not feeding
cells the nutrients, the thoughts, the emotions that they need in order to
continue to reproduce themselves in a healthy way.

        The body replaces itself totally every seven years. It will replace
itself in a healthy way, depending upon what you’re feeding it on all
levels.”

Mammography Can Turn Healthy Women into Cancer Patients


    I’ve taken a strong, and in some cases controversial position on
mammography, and I’m particularly leery of the newer 3D Tomosynthesis
mammography, which is touted as being so much better but in reality may
simply compound the same problems associated with regular mammography, as it
increases the amount of harmful (and cancer-causing) ionizing radiation
you’re exposed to.

    Dr. Northrup agrees, calling 3D tomosynthesis “a better mouse trap.”


        “I keep going back to the work of Gilbert Welch from Dartmouth. I
believe it is the most important paper to come out about breast cancer almost
in my entire career,” she says. “Gil wrote a book called 'Should I Be Tested
for Cancer? Maybe Not and Here’s Why.' That was in 2004. Now he comes out
with a paper that has everyone riled up. It’s called 'The Effect of Three
Decades of Screening Mammography on Breast Cancer incidents'1 [published in
the prestigious medical journal New England Journal of Medicine]. He says:
'With the assumption of a constant underlying disease burden, only eight of
the 122 additional early-stage cancers diagnosed were expected to progress to
advanced disease.

        After excluding the transient excess incidence associated with
hormone-replacement therapy and adjusting for trends in the incidence of
breast cancer among women younger than 40, we estimated that breast cancer
was overdiagnosed (i.e., tumors were detected on screening that would never
have led to clinical symptoms) in 1.3 million U.S. women in the past 30
years. We estimated that in 2008, breast cancer was overdiagnosed in more
than 70,000 women; this accounted for 31 percent of all breast cancers
diagnosed.'”

    So in 30-year’s time, an estimated 1.3 million women were diagnosed with
what amounts to “ductal carcinoma in situ,” also known as stage zero cancer—
or cancer you may die with but not from. It’s essentially harmless...

        “[Gilbert Welch] pointed to a study [from] way back, of women who
died in car accidents in their 40s. They sectioned their breast tissues and
found that 40 percent of them – this is normal healthy women dying in car
accidents – had evidence of ductal carcinoma in situ that was never going to
go anywhere. This is the big dilemma,” Dr. Northrup says.

Many Cancers Heal on Their Own...


    Another important study was published in November 2008 in the Archives of
Internal Medicine.2 This study followed more than 200,000 Norwegian women
between the ages of 50 and 64 over two consecutive six-year periods. Half
received regular periodic breast exams or regular mammograms, while the
others had no regular breast cancer screenings. The study reported that those
women receiving regular screenings had 22 percent more incidence of breast
cancer.

    The researchers, as well as another team of doctors who did not take part
in the study but who analyzed the data, concluded that the women who didn’t
have regular breast cancer screenings probably had the same number of
occurrences of breast cancer, but that their bodies had somehow corrected the
abnormalities on their own.

        “Of course, this makes complete sense, because your immune system is
set up to recognize and destroy cancers in the right environment,” Dr.
Northrup says. “The right environment, of course, is enough sleep, a low-
glycemic diet, enough vitamin D, and also regular handling of resentments,
anger, grief, and loss.

        I think what I want women to know is that your breasts are not two
potentially pre-malignant lesions sitting on your chest. The problem with our
paradigm – whether it’s tomosynthesis or mammograms – is that it will find
things that were never going to go anywhere. And then you’re out there
wearing a pink ribbon and running for the cure, thinking that you were going
to die of breast cancer when you never will, and never would.”

Efficient breathing reduces health risks, including heart attacks.


In Eastern cultures, great significance is placed on proper breathing
techniques, and for good reason. Proper deep breathing:

    Lowers your heart rate
    Lowers blood pressure and cardiac output
    Increases blood oxygen levels
    Promotes clearer thinking
    Relieves stress
    Increases metabolism
    Improves circulation
    Supports detoxification

Proper breathing can even help prevent heart attacks.


In Western cultures, however, little emphasis is placed on breathing methods,
which can lead to, or exacerbate, many health problems. Fortunately, changing
your breathing habits is something you can do quite easily once you
understand how.

An Exercise to Improve Breathing Technique.


Here is a simple Far Eastern breathing exercise you can do to "train" your
body to breathe in a more efficient manner. It will help your body better use
oxygen, increase your energy levels, improve clarity, and promote an overall
feeling of calmness.

Just follow these steps:


    Start by counting how many times you breathe each minute. In a relaxed
sitting posture, most people breathe anywhere from 15 to 25 times a minute.
(After practicing these exercises, your breathing rate may drop to as low as
five times a minute, with a greatly increased level of oxygen use.)

    Lie down on either a bed or the floor. Place a fairly heavy book (a large
phone book works well) on your abdomen just below your navel.

    Breathe through your nose, inhaling in such a manner that you raise the
book. When you exhale, the book should lower.

    Continue practicing this until this breathing pattern becomes natural.


Although this is exactly the way we breathe during sleep—by inflating and
deflating our lower abdomen—for some reason our breathing becomes more
labored and inefficient during our waking hours. We seem to shift everything
up to our chest area and breathe more shallowly.

Additional Tips for Better Breathing


Here are some more general rules for more efficient breathing:

    Breathe through the nose as much as possible. The nose pre-warms,
moistens, and filters the air before it reaches the lungs.

    Stand erect with your hands to the side. Begin to inhale slowly and
concentrate on allowing the air to fill the lower portion of your lungs
first. To do this you must relax your abdominal, or stomach, muscles.

    While still inhaling, let the air fill the middle portion of the lungs as
you let the rib cage relax and expand.

    Continue inhaling as the upper part of the lungs fill. As this happens,
gently raise your collarbone and pull your shoulders up and back.

    Now exhale reversing the above sequence—that is, let the air release from
the upper lungs by relaxing the collarbone and shoulders, then the middle
portion of the lungs, and so forth.

    Make sure your breaths are even, and visualize each section of the lungs
completely filling with air. As you fill the upper portion of the lungs,
picture your chest expanding and your shoulders becoming more erect and
higher.

Fortunately, in the real world we are not limited to only one of the above items. We can pick two of the items or we can pick three of the items. Or we can add other items, such as building the immune system. More will be said about the immune system later in this article.

The top priority is nutrition for the body and second, getting rid of the cancer cells.


It is actually the spreading of the cancer which kills cancer patients. Consider this quote by an M.D., the late Dr. Philip Binzel:

    "When a patient is found to have a tumor, the only thing the doctor discusses with that patient is what he intends to do about the tumor. If a patient with a tumor is receiving radiation or chemotherapy, the only question that is asked is, "How is the tumor doing?" No one ever asks how the patient is doing. In my medical training, I remember well seeing patients who were getting radiation and/or chemotherapy. The tumor would get smaller and smaller, but the patient would be getting sicker and sicker. At autopsy we would hear, "Isn't that marvelous! The tumor is gone!" Yes, it was, but so was the patient. How many millions of times are we going to have to repeat these scenarios before we realize that we are treating the wrong thing?

    In primary cancer, with only a few exceptions, the tumor is neither health-endangering nor life-threatening. I am going to repeat that statement. In primary cancer, with few exceptions, the tumor is neither health-endangering nor life-threatening. What is health-endangering and life-threatening is the spread of that disease through the rest of the body.

    There is nothing in surgery that will prevent the spread of cancer. There is nothing in radiation that will prevent the spread of the disease. There is nothing in chemotherapy that will prevent the spread of the disease. How do we know? Just look at the statistics! There is a statistic known as "survival time." Survival time is defined as that interval of time between when the diagnosis of cancer is first made in a given patient and when that patient dies from his disease.

    In the past fifty years, tremendous progress has been made in the early diagnosis of cancer. In that period of time, tremendous progress had been made in the surgical ability to remove tumors. Tremendous progress has been made in the use of radiation and chemotherapy in their ability to shrink or destroy tumors. But, the survival time of the cancer patient today is no greater than it was fifty years ago. What does this mean? It obviously means that we are treating the wrong thing!"
   

Cancer spreads faster and faster because of two reasons.


First, the cancer cells divide faster. This can happen because of an acidic condition inside the cancer cells. It can also happen by the nature of the type of cancer cell.

Second, as there are more and more cancer cells, there will be an increasing number of new cancer cells being created solely by virtue of the fact there are more cancer cells available to divide.

Flooding the body with the above nutrients will help slow down the spreading of cancer because all of the products are basically alkaline.

Cesium chloride will also help slow down the spread of cancer because it is highly alkaline. However, cesium chloride should only be used when it is the primary element in the protocol because of the doses needed for it to be effective. Cesium chloride is not a super-nutrient, but cesium chloride practitioners and consultants always add nutritional products to the protocol.

A Warning


When starting an alternative cancer treatment it is always critical to "build-up" to therapeutic doses of potent products. For example, suppose a patient wants to build-up to six scoops of Cellect (e.g. as part of the Cellect-Budwig protocol). They should start at a low dose, such as 1/2 of a scoop. If that is well tolerated then they can build up to one scoop on the next day, two scoops on the next day, and so on.

Building up is critical to avoid too much of a shock to the system.

Stopping The Damage is the Highest Priority!!


Cancer is like a ball rolling down a hill. At the top of the hill the ball is rolling slowly. But as the ball picks up speed as it goes down the hill (as it gains momentum), by the time it gets to the bottom of the hill it is going very fast.

Treating cancer is a battle against time, never forget that. The longer it takes to stop the momentum of the damage to the non-cancerous cells and get rid of the cancer cells; the worse the ratio of cancer cells to non-cancerous cells becomes. Strengthening the non-cancerous cells (and energizing the cancer cells) "buys time" for the cancer patient to get rid of the cancer cells.

The truth is that some cancer patients have eliminated every cancer cell in their body and they still die of cancer. The damage done to the non-cancerous cells can be fatal even after the cancer cells are gone. Many cancer patients have died without a single cancer cell in their body.

Also, orthodox cancer treatments can cause so much damage that it is impossible to save the patient.

That is why flooding the body with nutrition is the highest priority. It does the most good in the shortest amount of time. Some of the treatments which flood the body with nutrients also contain molecules which kill cancer cells.

What about some who cannot take high doses of nutrients. This is where products like Vibe Liquid come into play. Vibe is a condensed nutritional product and even a couple of tablespoons a day will significantly help the cells. Even a couple of scoops of Cellect every day will supercharge the body with nutrients.

The good news is that when treating a cancer patient it is usually possible to protect the non-cancerous cells at the same time as trying to kill the cancer cells.

Thus, in many cases two protocols can be started at the same time or a single protocol will accomplish two key goals.

Before going on, let's talk about building the immune system. 


Obviously, the immune system must be strengthened to help get rid of cancer cells. Should building the immune system be a high priority?

When I talk to an advanced cancer patient they sometimes think I am crazy for not wanting to focus on building the immune system immediately. My response is that there isn't time to build the immune system (especially if they have had a lot of chemotherapy), the immune system can be dealt with later.

For example, in the thugs and preachers parable would you focus on building a weight-lifting room as your first priority? Hopefully, nourishing the preachers and getting rid of the thugs would be your first priorities.

Because surviving cancer is a race against time, for most advanced cancer patients there simply isn't enough time to build the immune system and then expect the immune system to cure the cancer.

Having said that, there may be some super-immune building protocols that may help rebuild the immune system fast enough to help save an advanced cancer patients. You will have to be the judge.

But for now, the focus of this chapter is on protecting the non-cancerous cells to "buy time" for the treatment to work.

Supercharging Your Main Cancer Protocol


In addition to the super-nutrients that are there to help keep the cancer patient alive, it is also necessary to have a superb "cancer diet," meaning controlling the things a cancer patient can and cannot eat.

Many people think that a good cancer diet is all they need along with things that kill cancer cells. This is definitely not true.

While an excellent cancer diet is necessary, it is not sufficient for an advanced cancer patient. Specific products, as mentioned above, have a history of being critical to keeping cancer patients alive until the cancer cells can be dealt with. They can start becoming effective within days or weeks.

But a bad "cancer diet" can sabotage a good cancer treatment.


It is the cancer diet, whether good or bad, which determines the "inner terrain" of the body and the atmosphere in which the cancer cells live. A highly alkaline or better yet a highly oxygenated inner terrain will stop the spread of cancer almost dead in its tracks. They won't get rid of existing cancer cells as much as they will stop the spread of the disease.

Thus, you are not really killing the thugs with a good cancer diet, you are just "sedating" them.


On the other hand, a highly acidic inner terrain (such as eating sugar or drinking diet soda pops) creates an inner terrain in which cancer cells (i.e. actually the key is the microbes which are inside the cancer cells) get excited and aggressively replicate. Ice cream is probably the worst food on the planet earth for cancer patients.

Much more research needs to be done, but for now remember these keys:
1) Priority number one is to supercharge the body with super-nutrients which are known to be effective against cancer and are known to "buy time" for the patient,
2) The second priority is to revert cancer cells into normal cells, if possible,
3) The third priority is to kill cancer cells, and this method must be paced,
4) A bad "cancer diet" can literally destroy a cancer treatment or a good "cancer diet" can contribute to the treatment but cannot replace the specialized super-nutrients.

The Parable of the Thugs and the Preachers.

The Parable of the Thugs and the Preachers.


Using a parable, this chapter specifically discusses why it is so important
get rid of the cancer cells as quickly as possible and discusses ways to
safely accomplish this task.

This chapter is somewhat similar to the prior chapters, but this chapter will
focus on setting priorities when dealing with advanced cancer. You will
better understand the enemy you are dealing with and the challenges you are
facing when treating advanced cancer. You will understand why treating cancer
is a race against time. People who routinely work with cancer patients
frequently experience this race against time and understand why treating
cancer is literally a race!!

Suppose there were 100 thugs who were locked in a building with 100
preachers. No one, neither the thugs nor the preachers, is ever allowed to
leave the building.

Suppose at every opportunity the thugs beat up the preachers. The preachers,
over time, got weaker and weaker because of getting beat up daily by the
thugs.

As time goes on the preachers start dying one by one from their beatings.
Every time a preacher dies, this changes the ratio of thugs to preachers. In
other words, every time a preacher dies the ratio of thugs to preachers
increases.

This sets up a cascading scenario where as time goes on the preachers die
more and more frequently.

In addition, more thugs are allowed inside the building from time to time,
but no new preachers are ever allowed inside the building.

As time goes on it looks inevitable that the day would come when there would
be no preachers left at all.

You, a police officer, are assigned to go in and help nourish the preachers
back to health.

What is the first thing you should do? Think about your priorities (relative
to cancer) for a moment before going on. Would your focus be on getting rid
of the thugs (i.e. the cancer cells) or nourishing the preachers (the non-
cancerous cells)?

Here are your options:
1) Get rid of the thugs, or
2) Nourish the preachers, or
3) Start building a weight lifting room?

Obviously you would want to both get rid of the thugs and help nourish the
preachers. But this is not one of the options. The first thing you should do
is nourish the preachers!!

Why is this a higher priority than getting rid of the thugs?


Thinking about cancer, the first priority is to keep the patient alive. It
takes far longer to get rid of the thugs (i.e. the cancer cells) than to
nourish the non-cancerous cells.

But the things that can energize the non-cancerous cells can sometimes
energize the cancer cells. The reader might think that energizing the cancer
cells is a bad thing, but actually it is a good thing because when energized
the cancer cells have less need to steal nutrients from the non-cancerous
cells.

Cancer cells are dangerous because they lack energy (technically they lack
ATP molecules). When you provide outside energy to the cancer cells they have
less need to steal energy from the body.

Substances that will nourish the preachers the quickest and the most
effective are: the Budwig Protocol, Cellect, Vibe by Eniva, Limu Juice,
Mangosteen Juice, Grape Juice (e.g. the Brandt Grape Cure), Wolfberry (or
Goji) juice and Noni Juice.

In addition, D-Ribose is required because it can get past the lactic acid to
the non-cancerous cells. Another key substance to deal with cachexia is MSM
plus Vitamin C. MSM plus Vitamin C can also help the body get rid of the
lactic acid. However, Vitamin C cannot be used with some protocols.

These are the things that can most quickly stabilize the patient.


Once the patient has been on these energy-boosting products, then the
treatment can focus on killing the cancer cells or reverting the cancer cells
into normal cells.

Reverting the cancer cells into normal cells is superior to killing the
cancer cells because reverting cancer cells into normal cells does not create
nearly as much toxic debris caused by dead cancer cells.

The problem is that finding protocols that revert cancer cells into normal
cells can be difficult or expensive.

One way is to use a "Rife Machine." These devices are now called "Frequency
Generators." For example, the GB-4000 frequency generators are excellent ways
to revert cancer cells into normal cells.

Many years ago medical doctors were curing cancer by extracting some blood,
bombarding it with ultraviolet light, and then replacing the blood. The
hemoglobin "remembered" the ultraviolet light frequencies (i.e. they
continued to vibrate even after they were put back into the body) and killed
the microbes inside and outside of the cancer cells (microbes have
photosensitive amino acids). This protocol reverted cancer cells into normal
cells in less than 3 weeks. However, this protocol was largely used prior to
chemotherapy, so its effectiveness on today's cancer patients is not fully
known.

Currently ultraviolet protocols are only used at clinics (the key
abbreviation to search for is: "UVBI"). See the book: Into the Light -
Tomorrow's Medicine Today, by Dr. William Campbell Douglass II, M.D.). In
this book it is shown how to use this protocol at home if a nurse is
available.

The "Overnight Cure For Cancer" has done very well, but much more feedback
from cancer patients who use the various protocols is needed in order to
fine-tune these protocols.

Basically, all electromedicine protocols, all ultraviolet light protocols and
most DMSO and MSM based protocols will be able to revert cancer cells into
normal cells.

In summary, the keys to remember are:
First, flood the body with special nutrients,
Second, revert cancer cells into normal cells, if you can,
Third, kill cancer cells if you have no other choice.

Understanding This Logic


It is generally not cancer cells which kill a person, it is the damage done
to the non-cancerous cells and damage done to the organs which kills cancer
patients. The damage is done because of the cancer cells.

However, a person can more quickly energize and provide nutrients to the
cancer cells and non-cancerous cells than they can get rid of the cancer
cells.

Cancer cells are "beating-up" non-cancerous cells and organs in several
different ways:

First, cancer cells steal glucose from non-cancerous cells because cancer
cells consume about 15 times more glucose than normal cells.

Second, cancer cells steal nutrients (e.g. minerals, vitamins, etc.) from
non-cancerous cells.

Third, cancer cells convert glucose into lactic acid. The lactic acid goes
into the bloodstream and is captured by the liver. The liver converts the
lactic acid into glucose. The glucose then goes into the bloodstream and is
captured by the cancer cells (which consume 15 times more glucose than normal
cells). This cachexia cycle goes back and forth.

The problem is that every time a cancer cell converts glucose into lactic
acid, an enormous amount of energy is consumed. Likewise, the liver consumes
enormous amounts of energy when it converts the lactic acid back into
glucose. It is the energy which is stolen because of the lactic acid cycle
which kills many cancer patients. This is one reason why advanced cancer
patients are so weak and may eventually lose their appetite.

Fourth, the fact that cancer cells excrete lactic acid creates another
problem for cancer patients. Lactic acid in the bloodstream blocks glucose
and nutrients from getting inside of normal cells. This is another reason
cancer patients are weak and another reason to flood the body with super-
nutrients.

This is the main reason D-Ribose is required. D-Ribose is used by body-
builders to get energy past lactic acid. It is available at any health food
store.

In other words, as the number of cancer cells increases (and the number of
non-cancerous cells which are severely damaged increases), the number of
healthy non-cancerous cells decreases, but this number decreases at an
increasing rate!!

As mentioned elsewhere, hydrazine sulfate, D Ribose and MSM are frequently
used in the treatment of the cachexia cycle. However, hydrazine sulfate can
be extremely dangerous to work with if you do not carefully study the
warnings!!

The point is that any very advanced cancer patient is going to have a body
full of lactic acid.

As the ratio of thugs to preachers increases over time, an increasing ratio
of the power of cancer cells (the thugs) to the decreasing power of the
healthy non-cancerous cells and organs (the preachers) results. While there
will always be far more non-cancerous cells than cancer cells, it is the
growing damage to the non-cancerous cells that frequently kills cancer
patients.
